Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake Balls For Valentines Day

Cake Pops EASY Recipe – Bake with Me 2020 (Cake Pops, Chocolate dipped Strawberries, Rice Krispies)

Allison asked if I would make some cake balls for Valentines Day. Since we all love chocolate covered strawberries at our house, she thought Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake Balls would be the perfect treat to celebrate the day of love!! Plus, who doesnt love cake balls!

Ive been making Steve red velvet cake balls for years, they are one of his favorite treats. Right up there with chocolate chip cookies and Coke.

I made a batch for Heather to take to the salon to share with co-workers and clients, and a batch for Allison to take and share with her girlfriends at their anti-Valentine party. These are almost as good as a real chocolate covered strawberry!

Im so in love with the little boxes I put them in. I picked up these Martha Stewart Treat Boxes at Michaels a few months ago. They are the perfect size. They come with the little scalloped boxes, paper liners, ribbon and even the cute labels. Filled with cake truffles, they make a super cute Valentines Day treat to give someone. And chocolate covered strawberry cake balls are a little different than the typical candy. Its like cake and candy all in one!

Do you celebrate Valentines Day in a special way?

Recipe Tips And Tricks

  • Move quickly. Make sure youre adding your sprinkles to your chocolate as quickly as possible. Once the chocolate hardens, the sprinkles wont stick to it!
  • Customize it. You can use other toppings on your cake pops, including sugar sprinkles or chopped nuts, depending on what you like.
  • Use your hands to mix. Use your hands when mixing the frosting in with the cake to ensure that youre covering all the cake pieces.

Make these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake Pops with ingredients at home for a flavorful and enjoyable treat. Theyre great to have at home and to give to guests that attend different events.

How do you feel about Valentines Day?

Im pretty fortunate to have a husband of 27+ years who doesnt need the calendar to tell him when to be romantic. I dont know about you, but those days when he runs to the store when its below zero and snow piled up to his knees because I mentioned that Im out of my favorite cereal..thats love. When Im feeling my worst, and he looks at me and tells me I look beautifulthats love. When he touches me every time I walk past him, accepts me and all of my flaws, eats peanut butter toast because I dont feel like cooking, and makes me laugh every day.thats love. Life with him makes perfect sense. Every day may not be a Valentines Day, but I sure love how much he tries. Hes my sweet Valentine every day

So what is Valentines Day to me? A time to celebrate all of the love in our life and a good excuse to eat chocolate and make pretty girly pink and red desserts!

How To Make These Strawberry Pops

  • Place each strawberry on a long paper lollipop stick and prepared a drying rack out of a piece of styrofoam. *I even left the plastic wrapping on the styrofoam, in case we were especially messy.
  • Then melt chocolate and dip each strawberry into the chocolate, making sure they are thoroughly coated.
  • After they dry a bit, which only takes a few minutes, melt colored Candy Melts and take turns dipping the pops in red, pink, and white candy coating, to create colorful layers.
  • On the last layer, sprinkle the tops with Valentine candy sprinkles!
  • Viola! Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Pops are a decadent treat the kids can make almost completely on their own.

Could You Make These A Day Or Two Before Serving Them

Yes, these should be fine to make a day before serving, but I would not suggest leaving them in the fridge for longer than 48 hours.

If you kept them in the refrigerator too long, the strawberries might end up releasing their juice overtime making them soggy. If you wrap the strawberries in wax paper then place them inside a plastic container, they should stay fresh enough for 2 days.

How Did You Get The Strawberries To Stay On The Stick While Dipping In The Chocolate

If the strawberries are too ripe, they can be extra soft and could slide off the sticks.

Try to pick strawberries that are almost-ripe to ripe, but not overly ripe. One way to offer a little extra security is to dip the end of the stick into the chocolate and then stick it in the strawberry. Allow for it to cool and harden before trying to dip the strawberries back into the chocolate.

    Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pops

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pops are so much easier to eat than regular ones. They are so good and less messy.

Whenever I eat chocolate covered strawberries they are always messy. Sometimes the leaves fall off and it just isnt easy.

Putting the strawberries on a pop stick makes it so easy and you can eat the whole thing at one time or take bites.

Being able to place them in gift bags makes it where I can hand them out to all of my friends and its also very cute.

I made half with dark chocolate and half with milk chocolate. Then you can use the opposite kind for decorating or you can use colored melting chocolates.

I found small packages of white and pink melting chocolates at the store and thought they would be wonderful but they ended up being a little difficult to work with.

Ill just stick to melting the white chocolate and adding my own colors.

I even soak some of the strawberries in brandy for an hour before coating them. Those were really good and the strawberry flavored brandy makes a great cocktail.

I was thinking about ways to wrap them so that I could give some to friends and I came up with cake pop covers at the store. They are the perfect size and even have cute ribbons with them for decoration.
