Nothing Bundt Cakes Opens 1st Location In Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Bringing the first Nothing Bundt Cakes to Michigan is how Scott and Christine Vogel plan to set down roots in their new forever community.

“We felt like it was truly a recipe for success,” said Scott Vogel. “It was no brainer this is what we want to do in Grand Rapids.”

With his marketing jobs, Vogel has lived in a lot of cities. He landed in Grand Rapids three years ago with a position at floor cleaner-maker Bissell Inc. Vogel and his wife Christine quickly decided the region is where they wanted to settle permanently.

West Michigan isn’t too far from the Midwest communities where they grew up. Christine is from the Chicago suburbs, and Vogel was raised near Cincinnati.

“As soon as we got here, we looked at each other and said this is home,” said Vogel. “My wife said ‘This is our forever home.’ We fell in love with what Grand Rapids is all about.”

They now live in the Grand Rapids suburb of Cascade Township with their three kids, ages 2, 6 and 7.

They recently decided to open the first Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in Grand Rapids, at 5121 28th Street SE.

Just as the name implies, the bakery sells only bundt cakes. They come in all sizes and flavors.

“We have the ability to service people from small occasions to weddings,” Vogel said.

The shop did a soft opening in early March and a grand opening over the weekend.

The couple signed a 10-year lease for the 1,600 square-foot-bakery next to Grand Coney, across from Costco and Target.
