We wanted a little something for dessert for our trip home and ran across Nothing Bundt cakes and were very pleased. We had the pecan right away and will save the raspberry for another day. After 27 Years In The Military You Wont Believe What This Veterans New Favorite Day Job Is

WILMINGTON, N.C. –

After spending 27 years in the Military, Greg Marinich and his wife decided to go into business together, and they bought the Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in Wilmington North Carolina.

Now Greg spends his days delivering joy to people in the form of Cake.

All we do is sell cake for different sizes, eleven different flavors. Our major marketing tool is cake in mouth.

Greg said the transition to civilian life can be challenging, but he feels like the logistics training he earned in the Military helps him as a business owner daily.

Greg met his wife, Cat as students at UNCW and they traveled all over the globe during Gregs service, but now they are bakery owners.

Greg says that the franchise seemed like the right fit for the two to go into business together.

We always talked about doing something on our own. But by the time I retired coming across this franchise, it just was. It was a perfect fit for us.

Now Greg spends his days making deliveries for the bakery and he is happy to do it.

I love running around Wilmington. I love making peoples days when I show up at their doorstep.

The Nothing Bundt Cakes store is located on Military Cutoff Rd in Suite 104.

Five Minutes With Cat And Greg Marinich Nothing Bundt Cakes:

Were people-people, which you have to be in this business. Its crazy. I was a soldier, a teacher, a coach, and Cat was a teacher, and now we own a bakery. Who wouldve ever thunk that. Its what makes life fun.

Cat: Im an elementary teacher and Greg was in the military. We moved around the world for 27 years weve been out of the country more than weve been in it. Australia, Hawaii I was teaching school most of that time, as a substitute, so we were free to move around. We always knew that we wanted to do something on our own, and in Hawaii, I had the good fortune to work for an awesome little coffee shop on the beach, and Greg helped me a lot of times there in the early mornings. Then we really knew we wanted to something like that.

We thought it would be a coffee shop, or a wine bar, something of that nature. Greg retired out of Brussels, Belgium, and we both spent a bit of time teaching, and we had our eyes open for a business that we could start. A friend in Memphis opened a Nothing Bundt Cakes, and in conversation she suggested that we should look into it because there wasnt one in Wilmington. She was having a blast, working her butt off, but having so much fun. Its a happy business.

Its really what were all about. Its about building relationships in the community, giving back to the community, being with people, all day long making their day.

Whats really neat is that both our boys work in the bakery. Its true that its a family affair.

Meet Waxhaw Nothing Bundt Cake Owner Betsy Lamb and Get to Know Her Story

Article by Melinda Burris

Betsy Lamb is the owner of the Nothing Bundt Cakes at 9704 Rea Road, Suite A, in Waxhaw. After witnessing first-hand the love and care that goes into creating these fresh-baked, customizable bundt cakes at the grand opening of her brother’s franchise in Wilmington, NC, Betsy began investigating the possibility of opening a location near south Charlotte.

Each Bundt cake is made fresh daily in the bakery on-site, with up to ten delicious bundt flavors, including chocolate chocolate chip, classic vanilla, red velvet, white chocolate raspberry, confetti, carrot, lemon, marble and a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie flavor. The bundt cakes are made with real, fresh eggs and butter and then topped with a signature cream cheese frosting in a petal or drizzle frosting. To celebrate this Valentine’s Day, order your Love You to Pieces Bundt cake complete with heart and red bow decoration .

As Betsy notes, “You can gift cake for pretty much any occasion.”

In the wake of the pandemic, bundt cakes have proven to be popular for corporate giving, as a way for businesses to stay connected with employees working virtually.

Betsy credits her husband along with her two sons, Ben and Jeremy, with giving her the support system necessary to be successful in her ventures. Betsy also acknowledges her great staff for creating a fun, happy atmosphere in the bakery.
