Theres one thing I absolutely enjoy doing in a city: Visiting food markets. Good for me that LA has a lot of them, for example, Grand Central Market in downtown.
Although its not a plant-based food market only, there are still a couple of vegan vendors offering mouthwatering food and refreshing drinks. Press Brothers Juicery is one of them and the perfect address to get healthy and affordable food.
I chose a raw wrap for lunch and couldnt resist trying one of their vegan lemon donuts for only 2$ in addition. Everything tasted heavenly and it was such a pleasure eating a donut after a very long time again!

Another good place to eat cheap yet delicious vegan food in Los Angeles is Veggie Grill. Some of you may have heard about it already as its a famous, plant-based restaurant chain founded in California. Frankly, Im not a fan of fast-food chains and I dont visit them very often , BUT I gave it a try.
I guess its not necessary to mention that I was pleasantly surprised and now I honestly wish they would open some restaurants in Austria too. Their menu is full of heartful, vegan/vegetarian dishes like burgers and tacos.
Additionally, if you want to have a light dish you can choose from a great number of bowls or salads as well. Being a huge fan of falafel and similar stuff, I went for the Mediterranean Supergreens Salad with a bunch of healthy greens, falafel, and hummus.

Dont you hate a recipe that tells you to use any old Gluten-Free Flour? I really do. Especially when it comes to Vanilla Cake.
Vanilla cake did not come easily to me when I started this crazy business of a vegan and gluten free bakery. It took over 2 years to perfect it. The attempts that were made during that time were, well meh. Not good enough for me to waste my calories on. And not the quality I wanted to hand out our customers. Everything we make at Karma Baker has got to be amazing and worth it. If its only good for Gf and vegan, Ive failed. I dont want anyone to say that. I want each persons reaction to be, Wow! thats so good!
So, we had no vanilla cake at the bakery for a while. We were a wholesale-only bakery at the time, so it wasnt a big deal. But each time Id revisit vanilla cake, it was instigated by a desperate request that sounded like,Oh please make me a vanilla cake for my son its his favorite and theres just nothing out there. These are the words I cannot resist I have no will power against a desperate mom pleading for baked goods for her kid. There thats my kryptonite please dont use it against me !
So after making one vanilla cake after another, with the wrong blends, I ended up with cakes that were too brown, too corn-y, and quite a few that were too gummy & sticky I finally used my own flour blend and some calling-on-the baking spirit guides for assistance, and Karma Bakers Vanilla cake was born!
