How To Bake And Ice A Number Cake

    • My boyfriend Tims amazing mother, Pauline, had her 70th birthday this week, and I baked a cake for her. When I was baking cakes on a weekly basis, I did my fair share of number cakes, and I recall how much of a pain they were when I first started doing them. As a result, I took the opportunity to describe what I did and how I did it in the hopes that it would be useful to you in the future when you are baking and icing number cakes! The first thing youll notice about a lot of number tins is that they have an infinite amount of space at the bottom. They are essentially formed baking pans that are used for baking. These were purchased from a local cake store. Creating a bottom for the cakes and lining them are the first two things we need to accomplish, and for this you will need a few supplies: a cake pan and parchment paper. The following items are required: numbered muffin pans, a baking tray for each number, greaseproof/baking paper, tin foil, scissors, pencil, cake release, silicone pastry brush

    Method

  • Using an electric mixer, cream together the caster sugar and Stork/butter
  • Pour in the eggs and well combine
  • Mix in the flour until completely combined.
  • Last but not least, add the vanilla.
  • Stir constantly on high speed for 4-6 minutes
  • For the sake of solidity, Ill be filling my cake with a rich vanilla buttercream.
  • For both ratios, I used 500g unsalted butter to 1kg icing sugar and two tablespoons of genuine vanilla extract, which was adequate.

Cake Box For 6 Inch Cake

    Updated 28 Feb 2019 , 6:42pmby kakeladi

Hello there! I have a order in March to fill for a smash cake. I’ve made larger cakes and sold, typically 9 inch 3-layer cakes that fit perfectly into a 10x10x6 cake box. What size box do I use for a small cake, 6 inch 3-layer?

just depends on how big the bottom board is — I like a bottom board to be 4″ larger than the cake — two inches of board all the way around — so for a 6″ cake i’d use a 10″ box

I guess I was planning on using an 8 inch board and just assumed it’d be swimming in such a big box. But I guess even if my 8 inch board slid around in the 10 inch box, the cake would not hit the sides at all.

If possible, always use the same size box and board to avoid any movement in the box. So if you’re planning on using an 8 inch box go for an 8 inch box.

A 6 cake on an 8 board goes in an 8 box As the others have said match the board and box sizes

Cake Math Step : Convert The Measurements

With the pans surface areas known, its much easier to work in percentages than it used to be.Calculate your percentage by dividing the smaller pan area by the bigger pan area .As an illustration: 29 square inches divided by 51 square inches is 57 percent of the total surface area.As a result, the area of a 6-inch pan is 57% of the size of an 8-inch pan.Following that, we convert the ingredient measurements to percentages based on the percentages.

To obtain the measurements of each ingredient for your smaller cake, multiply the original bigger recipe measurement by the proportion of the smaller cake you want to make.Make a written record of your findingsdo not do this in your thoughts as you go!It is preferable to perform your conversions in grams.

To figure out how much flour is needed to make a 6-inch cake recipe from 500 grams of flour, multiply the amount by.57, or 57 percent, to get the correct quantity.500 multiplied by.57 equals 285 grams of flour.King Arthur Flour offers an excellent ingredient weight table that may be used to convert a recipe from volume to grams.) There will be some modest estimates required while converting measures, but dont be concerned about this.Round to the nearest gram, whether its up or down, with the exception of leaveners, which I always round up since Id rather have a little extra lift in the cake than not enough. You may just simply walk around to the nearest egg.
