Cheater Peach Cobbler In The Dutch Oven

Do you ever pretend like a recipe takes a lot more work and effort than it really does? If you do this is the perfect one to fit that bill. We call it Cheater Peach Cobbler because it includes only four ingredients and is quick to clean up and is absolutely delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 30 oz cans of peaches, or fruit of choice. Drained.
  • 1 can of Sprite
  • 1 stick of butter

Instructions:

I suggest using a foil Dutch oven liner to make for a quick and easy clean up.

  • Spread fruit in the bottom of a lined Dutch oven and then sprinkle cake mix over the top.
  • Pour can of Sprite over the peaches and cake mix and stir until all powder is moist.
  • Cut butter into small pats and drop them sporadically over the top of the mixture. This will give the cobbler a nice, golden brown top.
  • Cover and stack hot coals on the bottom and top of the Dutch oven and let cook for about 45 minutes or bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes.
  • Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
  • What Is Dump Cake

A dump cake is a type of cake. Theres nothing easier than a cake and a cobbler combined. This recipe is named after the fact that all the ingredients are literally put into a 13 by 13 baking dish. There is no need to use a mixing bowl. Based on some research, it appears that the first reference to a dump cake dates back to 1980.

PEACH COBBLER from Cake Mix and Soda! Butter with a Side ...

A can of peach pie filling, a can of Sprite soda and a box of yellow cake mix. That means no eggs, milk or butter required.

This is PERFECT because while camping, you want to make sure that you keep as little perishable foods on hand as possible and these 3 ingredients can easily be packed in a bag or box and forgotten about until dessert time. Just dont forget to pack the can opener for the canned pie filling .

Unfortunately, if youre enjoying this Dutch oven peach cobbler while camping, you will be required to eat the entire dessert in one night. This will help to prevent the food from spoiling and from accidentally inviting the forest critters into your campsite overnight.

Something tells me that raccoons arent interested in cuddling inside your tent.

Eating this entire dutch oven peach cobbler in one night sounds like a tough, but necessary job to save money and protect your campsite. You may need to entrust yourself with that responsibility. You can do it, I believe in you!

Can You Make Peach Cobbler With A Cake Mix

Yes! Its one of my favorite ways to make peach cobbler! Peach Cobbler is the way to use up all of those fresh peaches. I used to make this delicious but way-too-time-consuming Peach Cobbler recipe each year. It was so good, but honestly I dreaded making it! I kept hearing about a really easy Peach Cobbler recipe that uses cake mix and a can of soda. I adore my Country Apple Dumplings that also use a can of soda as the base, so I knew I had to try it. The verdict? Oh my its so easy and personally, I think its just as delicious as the time-consuming cobbler!

The bubbles from the lemon-lime soda will add a nice and light texture to the cobbler. If you have never baked with pop, you need to try it. You will get a magical turnout, that cant be beaten.

Reach for a clear pop like Sprite, 7Up, or even Ginger Ale for cake mix cobbler. You want the bubbles and moisture, but you dont want a dark soda to add in flavor to your cobbler. If you use something like a Pepsi, it will change the color of your cobbler, but also affect the taste which you dont want.

If Youre Making This Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler At Home

Remember that amazing invention currently sitting in your kitchen called a freezer. This is the safe place for all vanilla ice cream and containers of cool whip.

You dont get these luxuries while camping. That may be why its calling roughing it.

So after pulling your dutch oven peach cobbler out of the oven, give it a few minutes to cool and set. Scoop it up on your plate or in a bowl, and top it with a generous serving of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

If you have leftover peach cobbler, you wont need to worry about forest critters, but you will need to worry about letting it sit out too long, so make sure to store it in a sealed container inside your fridge. It should last about 3-5 days in the fridge if sealed and stored properly, but thats assuming it doesnt get eaten first.

You can reheat your peach cobbler in the oven for a few minutes until bubbly and warm or simply place a portion on a plate and microwave it for faster results.

Youre going to love making Dutch oven peach cobbler with cake mix whether youre at home or away. Its such an easy dessert and one that really hits the spot. Nothings better than a warm peach cobbler in summer but if you can pair it with a great scenic view while out in the woods, you may just have an unbeatable combo.

    About How To Assemble

There are two other methods of combining peaches, cake mix and butter:

Method 1: Pour the cake mix right over the peach slices evenly and top it with chopped cold butter. Scatter the butter pieces evenly.

Method 2: Pour the cake mix over the peaches. Melt the butter and pour it over the cake mix evenly.

Although the two methods above technically sound easier because you dont need an extra step in another bowl, neither of them is our favorite. We prefer melting the butter and combining it with the cake mix in a bowl until crumbly and then sprinkle this mixture over peaches. How hard can this step be? It is definitely worth because the cake mix is combined evenly with butter, which helps it bake evenly.

How Do I Make This Cobbler

To make this peach cobbler with cake mix, you’ll start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees, or preparing the coals in a fire pit. Spray pan or cast iron skillet with cooking spray.

Start making this peach cobbler with cake mix by pouring one 14.5 oz can of peaches, packed in peach juice into pan. I recommend these because the peach juice will add extra peach flavor and give you a great texture. Then sprinkle brownsugar and cinnamon evenly over peaches. It may seem like there’s lots of juices in the pan, but it’ll be absorbed by the cake mix and will make your cake tender and moist. Don’t drain liquid.

After you’ve got the peaches, sugar, and cinnamon in the dish, add ¼ box dryyellowcakemix over the peaches. You won’t prepare the cake in this peach cobbler with cake mix as you usually would prepare a cake mix to bake. The cake mix in this recipe acts as the ‘flour’, I guess. The peach juice and butter will finish off the recipe.

Spread the cake mix out evenly, by gently shaking the pan or using a rubber spatula. Distribute THIN slices of butter on top of cake mix, make sure that butter is covering the whole top. This will leave you with a tender, fully cooked cake topping!

Remove and serve your peach cobbler while still warm. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired. This small peach cobbler with cake mix is also delicious served with vanilla or plain yogurt in the morning.
