As the name suggests, hand-crank ice cream makers are operated manually. For this reason, it might take you longer to make the ice cream. However, you could be able to produce better quality ice cream compared to automatic ice cream makers.

How To Make Easy Ice Cream Cake Recipe:

First remove the wrappers from all the ice cream sandwiches. You need to move fast because ice cream melts.

Then lay 3 ice cream sandwiches side by side on a cake platter.

Next drizzle with the caramel and the chocolate.

Then lay another 3 ice cream sandwiches on top going the the other direction. Drizzle with more caramel and chocolate.

Continue this process 2 more times so it is four ice cream sandwiches high.

At this time, if the ice cream sandwiches start to melt, then place in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour.

Now its time for the icing on the cake. I think this might be my favorite part! Ice the cake with the cool whip.

Then drizzle the caramel and the chocolate on top allowing it to drip down the sides.

Freeze the cake for at least 2 hours and then I allow the cake to set at room temperature for at least 15 minutes to soften some so its easier to cut and then its ready to serve!

How To Make Ice Cream Cake

There are lots of different methods, sizes and shapes of ice cream cakes out there. I tried to make mine as simple and straight forward as possible, using 8 inch metal cake pans lined with plastic wrap and store bought everything. When youre planning a party, who has time to home make EVERYTHING?! Not this girl.

  • Line two 8-inch cake pans with plastic wrap.
  • Spoon softened ice cream into prepared pans, pressing out air bubbles as you go.
  • Freeze two layers in the freezer for 8-12 hours.
  • One hour before assembly, freeze cake plate.
  • Unwrap and place one layer onto a cake plate.
  • Add crushed cookies and hot fudge
  • Top with the second layer.
  • Frost with whipped cream and sprinkles, if desired.
  • Freeze until completely hardened.
  • Cut using a large knife dipped in hot water.

    How To Make Mochi:

    1. Freeze ice cream balls: Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Working quickly, use a small ice cream scoop to scoop ice cream balls and place them on the parchment paper. Be sure to pack the ice cream tightly in the scooper, leaving a flat edge on the ice cream so that it will sit flat on your cookie sheet. Freeze for 1 hour.

    2. Make mochi: Combine flour, sugar, and powdered sugar in a microwave safe bowl. Add water and stir well, until smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave mochi dough for 1 minute. Wet your spatula to prevent sticking and use your spatula to repeatedly fold the mixture. Cover, and microwave again for 1 minute. Fold the dough again and microwave for 30 more seconds. The mochi should look slightly shiny and if it doesnt, microwave for 30 more seconds.

    4. Roll mochi dough into rectangle: Place a piece of parchment paper on the counter and dust it with a layer of cornstarch. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the mochi dough from the bowl and onto the parchment paper . Dust the top of the dough ball with cornstarch. Use a rolling pin to roll the mochi dough into a large rectangle, about ¼ inch thick. If the dough sticks at all while rolling, continue to dust the top with cornstarch to prevent sticking. Place the parchment paper with the rolled out dough on it, onto the cookie sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

    How To Make Birthday Cake Ice Cream From Scratch

  • Whisk together egg yolks and granulated sugar until smooth and pale yellow in color.
  • Add the milk to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the milk to a simmer and then remove it from the heat before it boils.
  • Temper the eggs by adding ½ cup of the hot milk to the egg and sugar mixture, whisk constantly until combined. Then add the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining hot milk.
  • Heat the saucepan on low. Stirring constantly, heat until the base has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon. This should take a few minutes.
  • Strain the mixture into a bowl to remove any pieces of egg that might have cooked. Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and cake batter extract and stir to combine.
  • Cover the bowl, pressing plastic wrap to the surface of the ice cream base. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until cold.
