Restaurant Notes: Nothing Bundt Cakes Plans Mandarin Store

Four years after opening its first Nothing Bundt Cakes at Beach and Hodges boulevards in Southside, franchisee Cake 4 Partners Inc. intends to open its second location in Mandarin.

Charles Waters, president of Cake 4 Partners, said he anticipates opening a Nothing Bundt Cakes in April in the Merchants Walk shopping center at 9925 San Jose Blvd.

Mandarin is a fantastic area and our product is a good fit, he said.

Waters is looking at St. Johns County for a third location.

Another franchisee operates a store in Orange Park, he said.

The city is reviewing a permit application for a $137,000 build-out of a 2,700-square-foot Nothing Bundt Cake store in Merchants Walk, a shopping center owned by Hakimian Holdings.

Coastal Contracting of North Florida Inc. is listed as the contractor. Greg Landry Architect of Richardson, Texas, is the architect.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is based in Addison, Texas, and franchises more than 260 bakeries across the country.

The bakeries offer Bundt cakes from bite-size to 10-inch sizes in a choice of flavors and designs.

This franchise offers bundt cakes in ten flavors with 40 different designs to suit any occasion, notes its website. You’ll find options ranging from raspberry cake with white chocolate icing to pecan praline cake, which is a streusel cake inspired by grandmothers, to a birthday cake with sprinkles aptly named “Confetti.” Gluten-free flavors are available.
