New Jersey Crumb Cake
This tastes EXACTLY like Entenmanns crumb cake! When we lived in Jersey, we used to get a crumb cake on Sunday mornings. Can’t find it here in TX, but this is just as good, if not better!!
Provided by Yogi8
| 1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter |
| 1 cup sugar |
| 1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter |
| 1 cup sugar |
- Beat eggs and milk mix with butter.
- In another bowl, mix flour and baking powder, then add to butter mixture.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
- For crumb topping: Cut butter into sugar, biscuit mix, and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle over batter in pan.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until done.
- Top with the 1/4 – 1/2 C powdered sugar when cool.

Well, you’ve all convinced me to give them a try. . I’m sure that I’ll love them. I love to bake, but I also love to have goodies in the freezer as a backup and these fit the bill. It’s a good value. The breakdown is $2.35 per 6 oz. square. That’s less than I pay at my local bakery for a cupcake, eclair, whoopie pie, etc.
I decided to go on A/D so that I can try the different flavors. Thank you for your feedback!

When I read the ingredients, it was a definite NO. These crumb cakes have close to 50 ingredients! Not to mention artificial flavor. Jimmy the Baker used to use butter and just a few ingredients when he first came to QVC, but now he has gone the way of the big manufacturing facilities and uses formulas for longevity, not health or flavor.

I think they are excellent and enjoy them as a breakfast treat whenever he has a TSV or one time only.

I think all the food at QVC costs too much, including Jimmy the Baker. And the poster who said there was a long list of ingredients is right. These are the ingredients for his cinnamon rolls from his website:

Six cinnamon and six pumpkin, apple, or peach I am watching the in the kitchen with david show and when jimmy cut into the peach crumb cakes it was all full of mold! Too much crumb topping and not enough. Made in a facility that uses wheat, eggs, and nuts. There are a few ship dates on the upcoming tsv and i’m just about to c. So far i’m impressed with what he brings to qvc, and for food products, they’re reasonably priced.

About Jimmy The Baker
I was raised in a loving Italian family on Long Island, NY. As a teenager devoted to sports, I can remember teammates of mine dropping by and walking right past me to sit at the table with my mother and father who had them eating and laughing. There was one football party where so many kids showed up, I could not get into my own kitchen. My mother had one group peeling potatoes for her legendary French fries and my father had another group slicing Italian bread for his Italian Combos. Laughter was a key ingredient.
We grew up very middle class with my father going from working two jobs, standing on an unemployment line and eventually starting his own successful business. My mother was a fanatic about a clean home with food at its center. She cooked dinner every night and my brother, sister and I knew she would be watching as we took those first few bites. If she even sensed we werent reaching for seconds, wed have to spend the better part of the meal assuring her we were loving what she prepared.
In 1989 I would open The Daily Bagel in Yorktown Heights, NY. However, this was no typical bagel store as I had thought of a concept many years ago. As soon as I could ride a bike, my mother sent me to the bakery where I would wait in line. I would then peddle over to the bagel store to wait on another line and often wondered why the two were never under one roof. With that memory in mind, I decided to combine a NY bagel store with a traditional bakery.

Six cinnamon crumb cakes and six lemon crumb cakes. Too much crumb topping and not enough. Six each of cinnamon and multiberry crumb cakes.

Mmmm… nothing like some gourmet crumb cakes by Jimmy the Baker, one of America’s most beloved chefs.
Now let’s have a good look at some of his peach crumb cakes.
As the host points out there is a “peach flavor with crumbles on top,” you can see that’s not all that’s on top of these cakes.
Yeah, there’s clearly mold on that one.
The camera clearly shows the mold up close and then Jimmy has an “oh, sh*t” moment and cuts the cake and looks like he wants to scoop that part off the serving board. But wait, it’s live TV.
Seeing how many QVC boxes show up on my neighbors porches, I bet tons of people still bought these crumb cakes.
