    My Sweet Savannah: ~it

After realizing how many additives and preservatives are in many store bought treats, I started making my own. After making Peanut Butter Dog Treats and Homemade Dog Treats, I decided to try a version with both pumpkin and peanut butter. Pumpkin and peanut butter are both found in my popular Spoiled Dog Cake recipe and Dog Cupcakes, so if you love those recipes, make sure to add this one to your collection as well!

Based on the fact that the dog inhaled these pumpkin peanut butter dog treats and was immediately back at my feet for more, Id say they turned out pretty well! These treats are so easy to make and a great way to use up any leftover pumpkin puree you have from your pie or muffin baking.

How To Make Pumpkin Dog Treats

Lets walk through what youll need and what youll do. Reminder, the full printable recipe, with exact measurements and instructions, is found at the bottom of the page. This portion of the post is for discussion, helpful tips and answering common questions about the recipe.

    Ingredients

These treats use ingredients you probably have in your pantry already! All you need for the pumpkin dog treats recipe are as follows:

    • Flour: For this recipe I used whole wheat flour. Check with your vet to see which flour they would recommend for your dog.
    • Eggs: Make sure to grab large size eggs.
    • Natural Peanut Butter: Natural peanut butter is the only way to go. Most importantly avoid any peanut butter that contains the sweetener Xylitol, which can be poisonous to dogs.
    • Pumpkin Puree: Double check that you are using pure canned pumpkin puree. Often cans of pumpkin pie mix sit right next to pumpkin puree in the store, and you dont want all those extra ingredients in your pumpkin dog treats.
    • Water
    • Ground Cinnamon

    Steps To Take

Mix together all ingredients to combine everything to form a dough. This may be easier with an electric or stand mixer.

This will be a very thick and crumbly dough. Add a little bit of water to help moisten the ingredients, then you will be able to work and knead the dough. Only add a tablespoon or so as you go. You want the dough to end up being a dry and thick consistency.

    Easy Homemade Dog Cake

This Easy Homemade Dog Cake recipe by Crazy For Crust can be whipped up in just half an hour. The peanut butter cake is topped with unsweetened whipped cream, giving the cake a super festive look.

To make this cake, youll simply mix peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and your whole grain or grain-free flour base and pop the mixture into the oven.

Finally, coat the cake with homemade, unsweetened whipped cream. You can even put the cream in a piping bag for some added flair, though your pooch will likely love the cake regardless.

This cake can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days which can be helpful if you want to break up Fidos treat consumption.

    Ingredients:

    • Grain-free or whole grain flour
    • Baking soda
    • Heavy whipping cream
