When Melanie Hohman’s son was diagnosed with a number of food allergies before he turned 1, she launched a search for a birthday cake that could accommodate his needs. This seemingly simple quest led Hohman deep down the rabbit hole of allergy-conscious baking. When she surfaced, she started Sensitive Sweets, a gluten- and nut-free bakery with a delightful selection of highly customizable cakes.
Customizing your cake from Sensitive Sweets is easy. Create your perfect cake by choosing from two sizes, nine flavors, four fillings, six fondant topper colors, seven accent colors, and 14 themes. If that’s not enough, Sensitive Sweets will even let you request special colors and themes via a text box at checkout. And, of course, you can add your birthday kid’s name.
The 6-inch cake serves six to eight guests and sells for about $75, while the 8-inch cake serves up to 14 for around $85. Shipping via FedEx costs extra. Note that you must order at least seven days in advance of your required delivery date.

Dr. Ashley Ramirez was diagnosed with Celiac disease in college, so she had to begin learning to prepare gluten-free meals for herself on a student’s limited budget. Luckily, her Ph.D.-level chemistry program proved helpful, and soon her recipes were fooling even ardent wheat-lovers. When a job-related delay left her in limbo in Huntsville, Alabama, Dr. Ramirez used her skills to open Mason Dixon, Alabama’s very first gluten-free bakery.
Mason Dixon Bakery offers a selection of 8-inch layer cakes available to ship. Most cakes are actually full-sized versions of Mason Dixon’s cupcakes, so see the cupcake menu for the most detailed flavor descriptions. Our favorites include the Cookie Monster, the Stacy, and the Fat Elvis. We hope that someday Mason Dixon makes full-sized versions of the Alabama Mud and the Trash Panda, but for now, you’ll have to order those in cupcake form. In addition to being gluten-free, some cakes are also dairy-free, soy-free, paleo, and/or vegan. Mason Dixon ships custom cakes as well.
Most of Mason Dixon’s 8-inch cakes cost between $35 and $45, plus a flat shipping rate of about $30. That makes Mason Dixon the most budget-friendly option on this list.

What If I’m Allergic To Soy
We do not bake with any soy protein or have it in the bake shop. Our baked items are made with all soy-free ingredients.
Please let us know if you need a completely soy-free treat as some of our embellishments, our dairy free buttercreams and some of our fillings have small amounts of soy lecithin. Most individuals who are not able to tolerate soy protein are able to tolerate small amounts of soy lecithin without issues.

Limited Open Hours For Takeaway
Were not currently offering dine-in service, but we are open for walk-in takeaway purchases. Simply call in to order, or walk inside to view our fresh pastry case and well be happy to help you. We are still requiring masks for all customers. We cant see those smiling faces anymore but love to see those smiling eyes. Were still offering contactless pickup to those who need this service, and were happy to arrange this.
All our baked goods are freshly made daily in our gluten free production kitchen, located behind our shop. Our retail staff is very patient and knowledgeable about all our products. They are more than happy to answer questions about allergens, ingredients, or their personal favorite treats!
Due To My Frustration I Decided To Make The Damn Thing Myself And I Used The Methods Of How I Used To Make A Regular Glutenous Cake After I Tweaked The Ingredients And Played Around With It A Bit To Make It Gluten And Dairy Free Voila The Worlds Best Tasting Gluten Free And Dairy Free Vanilla Cake
Finally , I had a delicious cake with perfect texture! Could it be, cake that tastes like cake? The most noteworthy part of this recipe is how well it holds up and how comparable the texture is to a regular cake. Therefore, I literally have friends and family that request this for their birthdays when they could easily get a normal cake at a bakery.
As a result of this cakes popularity, this recipe is tried and true a million times over. It has been used as the base for anything that calls for vanilla cake, especially during the holidays. It is truly the perfect gluten free birthday cake recipe.
Note: It is also important to remember that your All Purpose Flour mix is a huge part of this process, since My AP Mix makes fluffy cakes and baked goods I would highly recommend using it. I have bought some pre-made mixes from the store that caused major recipe fails, so please keep that in mind.

Are Your Products Nut Free
We do not bake with peanuts or tree-nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, etc. in our bake shop, but we do use So Delicious coconut milk and other coconut products in a number of our treats. The American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology recognizes coconut as a fruit. www.acaai.org Since the USDA identifies coconut as a tree nut, we are not technically considered a nut-free facility.
