The early morning rush had subsided, but Dennis Wellert and Nastazia Laguerre remained on the floor of their Nothing Bundt Cakes shop in Coral Springs. Smiling at customers, the couple laughed and talked, inviting shoppers to taste free samples of their bakerys goods.
Friday marked the grand opening of their bakery, located at 1949 North University Drive. Founded in 1997 by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, Nothing Bundt Cakes oversees the operations of 212 shops across the United States and Canada. The Coral Springs store is the international franchises fifth in South Florida.
Our goal is to make this location one of the first-most admired small businesses in Coral Springs, Wellert said.
Their decision to jump into the business got its start in another part of the country.
While living in Las Vegas, Laguerre wanted to find a cake to celebrate her sons first birthday. After a quick online search, Laguerre said she took a short trip to her neighborhoods Nothing Bundt Cakes shop.
I had that one bite of cake from the sample tray and I was just blown away, Laguerre said. I said to myself, one day, I want to own a Nothing Bundt Cakes.
