Growing up my father on Fridays would always bring home a Entenmanns Banana crunch cake. I remember my brother and I would be so excited when Fridays came around. Ive always associated that cake with happy memories of our family sitting around the table. We would open the box and my brither and I would pick the chocolate drizzle the would get stuck to the lid of the box. It always put a smile on my face and made us happy. I feel by the looks of it that Im not the only who felt this way about this cake. So I figured with all the craziness going on why not bring back something that obviously makes people happy. So Im asking you please to sign my petition for Entenmanns to bring back the Banana Crunch cake. Lets put a smile back on our faces as we remember some of our simple childhood memories.

The tasty crumb of a detail appeared in news accounts last week about the death of Charles E. Entenmann, whose very surname conjures a white-and-blue box with a cellophane glimpse of some baked treat that is both good and bad for you.
It was said that Mr. Entenmann, who died last month at age 92 in Florida far from the South Shore of Long Island, where he helped his familys business rise like a baking Bundt cake to become a national brand did not eat Entenmanns products.
He just wasnt a dessert guy, one of his children explained, no doubt causing Entenmanns aficionados everywhere to choke on their second secret slice of a Cheese Danish Twist.
As someone who grew up near the old Entenmanns factory in Bay Shore, my first reaction to this revelation is: No wonder he lived to 92.
My second reaction, though, is to say: Forget it, your royal Entenmanns eminence. The Barrys of Deer Park, and those like them, ate more than enough to cover what you didnt. You are now excused from the Formica-topped kitchen table of life, with our deep thanks.
For some self-conscious fans, buying an Entenmanns pastry may call for a little wink-and-nod: The organic bakery was out of its locally sourced herb scones, so we thought itd be fun to have an Entenmanns, like the ones our grandmother used to eat out of the box in Massapequa

Do They Sell Entenmanns In California
We wish we could offer every item in every market, but as a fresh baking company, we have found that some items are better suited to local markets, while others are better suited to long-distance travel. Due to this, we are only offering Little Bites and Entenmanns donuts in California and the West Coast at this time.
Banana Crumb Cake Recipe
The Entenmanns banana cake crumb topping is a very fine, sandy crumb. Some people might call it too fine or crumbly. If you prefer a more densely packed crumb, adjust the crumb recipe as follows: 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
The chocolate piping is a fun detail, but be forewarned, it takes several hours for the chocolate to firm up and, like the original Entenmanns cake this takes its inspiration from, the chocolate squiggles are delicate. If youre eager to serve or eat your cake sooner, feel free to omit them.
The cake part of this recipe is adapted from the Banana Bread recipe found in the Fannie Farmer Junior Cookbook by Joan Scobey.
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- For the Cake
- 8 Tablespoons unsalted butter, soften to room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
- For the Chocolate topping
