How To Peel Peaches

HOW TO MAKE PEACH COBBLER IN THE CROCK POT! SO GOOD WITH A CRUMBLE CAKE TOPPING AND ICE CREAM!

If you decide you want to use fresh peaches, here is the easiest method for prepping:

  • Make a shallow 2-inch wide X on the bottom of each peach using a knife.
  • Place the peaches into a pot of boiling water and let them sit for 10-30 seconds or until the skin next to the X starts to peel away.
  • Remove them from the boiling water and immediately transfer them to an ice bath. This shocks the peaches so the flesh stops cooking but the skin becomes super easy to peel off.
  • Use your fingers to peel the skin off the fruit then slice around the pit!

The Advantage Of Making Cobbler In A Crockpot

One of the many advantages of slow cooking is the convenience. Dishes can be assembled leaving you free to work on other tasks or run errands. Another advantage is, slow cooking turns inexpensive cuts of meat into tender and succulent meals. That’s a win in my book. In this instance, the yummy cobbler can be assembled and baked while you enjoy dinner.

    • The purpose of doubled paper towels is, to collect the condensation that forms on the lid of the crockpot while the cobbler cooks. Don’t skip it.
    • This cobbler is designed to be “juicy.” You may choose to use the syrup from all 3 cans of peaches, if preferred. When doing so, there’s no need to make any other adjustments.
    • Should you choose to use peaches in light syrup, please note, the juice is thinner and less sweet than peaches in heavy syrup. You’ll need about 1 to 1 ¼ cups juice from the peaches, total.
    • It’s important to allow stand time for the syrup to thicken before serving.
    • You can use a yellow cake mix, a vanilla cake mix, or a butter cake mix for this recipe.
    • Enjoy with a scoop of classic vanilla, peach or caramel ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
