Add Peaches To Bottom Of Baking Dish Or 913 Pan

When mom and I made this dessert we used a 9×13 pan, but feel free to use a baking dish of similar size like this oval baker. If fresh peaches are in season, I would definitely recommend fresh. However, if fresh peaches are out of season or not available, feel free to use frozen or canned. When using frozen, let the peaches thaw and come to room temperature before baking. Should you be using canned peaches, drain off the majority of the juice.

Tips For Making A Cake Mix Cobbler

You want to peel the peaches before adding them to the cobbler mixture. To easily peel peaches, cut an X on the bottom, then briefly submerge in boiling water. Immediately dunk the peaches into an ice bath. Then, then should be easy to peel.

Note that you add the cake mix to the cobbler as a dry ingredient. Do NOT mix together the cake mix as instructed on the box.

If desired, I bet you could add extra fresh fruit to this fresh peach cobbler. Berries would pair nicely with the peaches!

Melt Butter And Add Cake Mix

Easy Instant Pot Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix [+Video]

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and then add the cake mix. I used a white cake mix, however, a yellow cake mix works just as well. Stir the butter and mix together to combine.

Pro Tip for this Easy Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix: There are several other recipes out there that have you dump the cake mix directly over the top of the peaches, and then pour the melted butter over that. I dont recommend this method. Not only does the mix not bake evenly, but you also tend to have dry, powdery clumps of mix in the cobbler, which isnt ideal.

Getting a good consistency for this easy Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix:

As you stir the butter and cake mix together it will take on a crumbly, gravel-like consistency. This really makes the perfect cobbler for your peaches and will absorb the juices of the peaches as it bakes.

How To Remove The Peach Pit

Its easiest to remove the peach pit by slicing open the peach from top to bottom and all the way around, then using your thumb to pluck or push out the pit. If that doesnt work, you can pop the peach on the grill and the heat will loosen the pit.

The most important thing to remember is a ripe peach releases its stone so maybe you have an under ripe peach.

Peach Cobbler With Cake Mix Notes:

  • We love to usethis baking pan because it comes with a lid! This way, you can just keep the leftovers fresh right in your baking pan! No more trying to cover it up with messy aluminum foil. Yay!
  • I have seen versions of this recipe where people sprinkle some nuts on top at the end before going in the oven. Almonds, pecans, walnuts, pistachios anything would roast nicely in the oven.
  • Ive seen different methods for incorporating the butter into this dish. We opted to slice ours up and place them around the dish. You could also melt the butter and drizzle it evenly over the recipe. Or, Ive seen people melt the butter and mix it in with their cake mix. This gives you a sort of crumble and people seem to like how it bakes. I havent tried these methods, so I cant attest to them. But go for it if it sounds good to you!
  • This should go without saying, but we highly advise serving this warm with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream on top. But.. .we didnt need to tell you that, right?

Should A Cobbler Be Eaten Hot Or Cold

It honestly depends. Traditionally people enjoy their crumble warm with a scoop or cold ice cream to make your taste buds have the experience of a lifetime.

But, me being a weird human being, I love having it cold. I feel like the flavors and the textures are much better when my cobbler is cold. Plus during the hot summer days, who doesnt love cold desserts!

Tell me in the comments if you enjoy cold or hot cobblers!

Ingredient Cake Mix Dump Peach Cobbler

  • First, you can use canned peaches in heavy syrup or fresh peaches. For fresh peaches, youll want to peel, slice and cover them in 2/3 cups granulated sugar for 30 minutes. I actually used the fermented peaches from my Peach Cobbler Moonshine to make this recipe. They were so totally off the charts! I highly recommend it!
  • Whatever form of peaches you use, you want at least 1 cup of liquid as well. It doesnt have to be exact.
  • Next, I prefer a white or yellow cake mix, but a butter cake mix will also work for this recipe
  • I always recommend using real butter. I used salted butter, cut into cubes and placed evenly on the cake mix.
  • Finally, guess what! You can also make this in the slow cooker!! Layer the ingredients in your slow cooker just as described in the oven method. Cover with the lid, turn on low and cook for 4 hours or until the top is brown!
