He has also appeared in many other media outlets, including multiple appearances on the Food Network, for his intricate sugar art designs specialty cakes and wedding cakes that look just as good as they taste.
Where Can You Find One
In Canada, Carlo’s Bake Shop currently has multiple locations in Ottawa and the greater Toronto area. All of the cake ATMs are inside malls, like Yorkdale, Square One, Eaton Centre, Upper Canada, Bayshore, and St. Laurent.
There is a handy map online where you can search for the location closest to you. The useful tool will not only give you the address but provide a detailed description of where to go, such as in the food court or beside the Apple Store.

I dished out $20 for two slices to try his signature rainbow and carrot cake.
The vending machines are re-stocked daily, so I recommend arriving early. This was my third attempt to get cake the first time the device was broken, the next it was sold out by 1 pm.
Ordering is effortless you touch the screen for the flavours you want and tap your card to pay. Some of the flavours include red velvet, cookies and cream, carrot cake, rainbow, chocolate, and confetti.
The carrot cake has four layers of cake with a cream cheese icing, while the rainbow has six layers of vanilla cake , sandwiched between a vanilla icing and covered in sprinkles.
After sampling both cakes, I was delighted to find they were very fresh. The texture was moist and not too dense. I also appreciated the icing to cake ratio. There was the horrible thick layer of icing at the top. Instead, there was a thin layer of frosting between each layer of cake.
The portions were remarkably huge too. You could easily cut it in half and have two generous portions. For myself, I wasnt able to eat more than 1/4 of the cake.
As such, when ordering, I suggest you share it with someone. Or you should expect to have leftovers .
Between the carrot and the rainbow, the rainbow was hands down the winner. Both were good, but the rainbow was more visually appealing. All the bright colours, thinner layers of cake and crunchy sprinkles were a hit with my taste buds.

If you are tempted to try this celebrity dish, it is worth the one-time splurge. The novelty of getting a piece of cake from a vending machine was rather entertaining. While the quality of the product, won’t disappoint.

How To Make Rainbow Cake Layers
Get your 8×2 cake pans ready. You might not have 6 cake pans all the same size so keep your cake batter in the fridge while your other cakes are baking. They are really thin so they bake up fast.
Coat your cake pan in a layer of cake goop and preheat your oven to 335ºF. I also put a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of my pans so that they were easier to take out of the pan since they would be so thin.
To make our rainbow cake layers, all you have to do is mix up your batter and then divide your batter into 6 bowls evenly.
Each bowl holds 15 ounces of cake batter. I used a kitchen scale to weigh mine out so they would all be equal.
Im using electric colors from Americolor and Im not making an EXACT rainbow, this rainbow is more Lisa Frank style. I really like these electric colors because they make super bright neon colors and you dont have to use a lot of food color.
Colors I used
You can totally go classic rainbow and use red instead of pink, violet instead of electric purple and royal blue instead of electric blue.
Add a drop or two of color to each bowl and stir with a spoon until combined. Make sure for the green you use a little yellow and a little green so the green is more vibrant.
For the orange, use a little orange and a little yellow to make the orange more vibrant.
For the purple, add a little pink and purple to make the purple more vibrant.
Pour your batter into your cake pans .

Buddy Valastro’s Rainbow Cake Is Now Available At Fridays For The Holidays
At TGI Fridays, more colors on your plate doesn’t necessarily mean more nutrients.
The American restaurant chain just partnered with Buddy Valastro to dish out his photogenic Rainbow Cake at Fridays locations in honor of the holidays. What does a multicolored cake have to do with the holidays? We have literally no clue, but it’s fun and it’s tasty, so we’re not going to question it.
The confection is comprised of six layers of purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red-colored vanilla cake, sweet vanilla icing, and rainbow sprinkles, and it’s now available by the slice and in whole form at TGI Fridays locations for an undetermined, but finite, amount of time.

How Much Is A Cake From Cake Boss
According to the Carlos Bakery website, the prices of the cakes change depending on the bakery location, cake size, cake flavor, and more. At the original location in Hoboken where I visited, many of the traditional cakes that serve six-eight people range anywhere from $24.95 to $34.95. That includes flavors like chocolate fudge, caramel, vanilla buttercream, peanut butter, strawberry shortcake, and more!
Buttercream and whipped cream cakes vary between nine, 10, 12, and 14 inches with prices ranging from $81.95 to $140. The sheet cakes range from $65 to $330.
Some of the fancier fondant cakes range from $81.95 to $455, all depending on the size. Depending on the size as well, edible image cakes range between $65 and $175. The gorgeous special occasion two-tier cakes are priced between $225 and $500. Italian cakes sell for between $60 and $100. Please note prices will vary depending on the bakery location.

Do you love to watch Carlos Bake Shop on TV? Then youll want to try out the Cake Boss vending in Ottawa. The three locations in Rideau Centre, Bayshore, and St. Laurent Shopping Centre arent typical bakeries. Instead, they are vending machines they are stocked daily with cakes made at The Cake Bosss shop in New Jersey.
While Ive never seen Cake Boss myself, I tried to visit the location in New York years ago and found a lineup around the block. So I was curious to try a slice to see if it lives up to the hype.
But at $10 a slice for vending machine cake, I must admit I wasnt sure what to expect. So if youve been curious but didnt want to waste money on a dry dessert, I got you covered.

- Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 15-second increments until almost fully melted.
- Add in your hot water and microwave another 15 seconds
- Stir until smooth. Then add in your yellow food coloring. Stir until smooth.
- Place water ganache into a piping bag, snip off the tip and drip the ganache around the edge of your chilled cake. After it sets, you can mix your gold dust and vodka together and paint the drip gold
How To Decorate A Rainbow Cake
Time to decorate our rainbow cake! Im using my easy buttercream because it comes together so fast. You could use any buttercream though like swiss meringue buttercream, Italian meringue buttercream or even cream cheese frosting.
Place your first layer onto your cake board. Im working on a turntable to make this whole process easier.
Apply a thin layer of buttercream. Shoot for about 1/4 of frosting.
Keep your spatula nice and flat so your buttercream has an even thickness.
Im starting with the purple because that makes sense to me in my brain but you could start with the pink if you want to go in the opposite direction.
Continue frosting and stacking this way with the rest of the layers and then give the whole cake a nice crumb coat to seal in all those rainbow crumbs.
Chill your cake for 15 minutes to firm up that layer of buttercream.
Finish your cake with a final layer of buttercream and smooth it out with your bench scraper and offset spatula.
After chilling my cake, I added some fancy sprinkles to the bottom border of the cake, then I transferred my cake to a cake board.
Im finishing this cake with a water ganache drip. I used 5 ounces of white candy melts, 1 ounce of chocolate candy melts and 6 ounces of water.
After melting, I added a few drops of electric yellow food coloring to make a gold candy melt color. I dripped this water ganache onto my chilled cake. Then painted gold with some truly mad plastics gold dust and vodka.
