Welcome To The Marketplace
Cedar Faire, Knotts parent company, has announced their home park Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio will be reopening in the coming weeks. While Knotts hasnt been given a reopening date yet, it appears that Cedar Faire may have been testing new social distancing and safety policies at Knotts California Marketplace. Here are a few of the updates.
When entering the Marketplace, youll be greeted/alerted by a safety warning stating that by visiting Knotts, you are taking a voluntary assumption of potential risks and exposure to COVID-19. The sandwich board also indicates the safety guidelines guests are asked to follow, like wearing a face covering, practice social distancing, and to enjoy available attractions only with immediate household members.
The main entryway to the Marketplace on Beach Boulevard remains closed but has gained the recent addition of new picnic tables in the street so people can enjoy some fried chicken and boysenberry pie outside. Parking for the Marketplace lot is open by the hotel-side of the resort off of Crescent Avenue. Parking is free and not metered, so guests can take their time and enjoy a fried chicken dinner and peruse all the reopened shops.
The Main Gate to the theme park has been completely fenced off.
Every five minutes theres an announcement broadcast throughout the Marketplace that reminds guests that face masks are required and social distancing is strongly recommended.
Knott’s Gets Spicy With Its Latest Sweet Treat
Not to be outdone by a certain theme park down the street that has been promoting oversized food recently, Knott’s is plus-sizing its popular Fun Bun. The new “Super Fun Bun” is a 12-inch glazed cinnamon bun that’s coated in funnel cake batter then deep-fried and topped with boysenberry glaze. It’s available at Ghost Town Grill for $20.

The deep-fried cinnamon roll was perhaps the park’s best PR success with a food item since Cordelia Knott started serving her fried chicken dinners. Over in the Boardwalk area, you can find savory smokehouse sausages, pulled pork, rotisserie chicken and more paired with classic side dishes such as flavored mac and cheese dishes, baked beans and cornbread at Boardwalk BBQ. Our favorite? The tangy boysenberry meatballs! When given the option, always choose boysenberry-based dishes at Knott’s! Even if you choose another entree, you can pick up some boysenberry BBQ sauce at the register for dipping.
Tater Tots at Calico Tater Bites
Load up the tots at this Ghost Town stop, just inside of the park entrance. We like the BBQ pulled pork tots, but you can choose from Calico chili cheese tots, Buffalo chicken tender tots, mac and cheese tots, pastrami tots and other seasonal favorites.
Speaking of loading up hot potatoes with yummy goodness, La Papa Loca in Fiesta Village has french fries with toppings. Choose from carne asada, Cubano fries, nacho cheese, waffle fries, and chili cheese fries.
