As a Chuck E. Cheese superfan, it probably wont surprise you where Sloan chose to have her birthday party. This past Saturday, our new 5-year-old hosted seven of her friends at the wildly popular entertainment centers Spokane Valley location.

Yes, birthday parties are back as the pandemic continues to loosen its grip on our world. All one needed to do to see this reality expressed was peek inside Chuck E. Cheese for a half second on Saturday. But more on that in just a bit.

Pros
Even though Sloan had her heart set on a Chuck E. Cheese party, Sid did look around at some of the trampoline parks and inflatable centers around Spokane. By a decent margin, Chuck E. Cheese offered the most affordable per kid price. You might be surprised to learn what some places are asking for birthday parties.
I feel the value of a Chuck E Cheese birthday party is strong compared to other alternatives. Sloan got some special time with Chuck E. and much more.
The value we received was another positive. The per kid price included an unlimited game card for TWO HOURS, pizza, unlimited soda in a Chuck E. Cheese souvenir cup, ice cream, and a party favor bag. We felt like Sloans friends were well taken care of.

Father Shot To Death While Bringing In Daughters Birthday Cake At Chuck E Cheese In Humble

HUMBLE A man was reportedly gunned down in the parking lot of a Humble Chuck E. Cheese on Friday night.
According to reports, 24-year-old Calogero Duenes was walking outside of the business located at 124 FM 1960 Business when he got into an argument with another man, who was driving a burgundy Ford.
Officers who were nearby said they heard the gunshots. When they arrived at the scene, officers said they found Duenes suffering from multiple bullet wounds.
Duenes was transported to the hospital where he later died.
According to Duenes wife, Amber Uresti, her husband was shot while holding his 6-year-old daughters birthday cake.
Its a tragedy. I really cant wrap my head around it. Like, Im hurt. I cant understand how someone can do that to someone thats holding a cake, Uresti said. We just went to go celebrate my daughters sixth birthday. I mean, thats all he was tasked with. Thats all he had on him was a cake.
Uresti said she and her husband have been together since they were teenagers. She said he leaves behind two daughters, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old.
My husband passed without me, without anybody to hold his hand, to comfort him, she said. I want justice. I want justice for my children, for Calogero.
Duenes will be taken back to his hometown of Corpus Christi to be buried. His funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 10. The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.

Do You Tip For A Chuck E Cheese Birthday Party
Ive actually reached out to Chuck E Cheese to see if they have a policy/common practice on this. While I in no way felt pressured to tip, theres no doubt our hostess deserved it! Our total party cost was $300, on which we tipped $40. This might seem like a bit much to some but Ive worked in food service before and the tip was well earned. That said, as an update, we did our daughters 5th birthday there and they actually removed the option to tip from the receipt So bring cash for the tip because trust me the host/ess deserves it!

Start By Sending Out Custom Invitations
Instead of sending the free invites that Chuck E. Cheeses offers we designed our outer space invite and send it to to all of our friends. We also encouraged everyone to come wearing a space themed outfit if they wanted to! It set the tone and expectations for my kids friends and they knew it was going to be all about outer space.
Do They Have To Do The Ticket Blaster
Our host was kind enough to show my daughter how the ticket blaster worked, but even then, my daughter wasnt interested. My 5yr old son was all about it, though, so he stepped up to get those tickets. That said, there was also the option to skip the ticket blaster and simply collect 200 tickets .
After the ticket blaster, the kids are then welcome to go back to playing.

Is 11 Too Old For A Chuck E Cheese Birthday Party
My youngest sons birthday was last month. He turned 11 and celebrated with a Chuck E Cheese birthday party.
But Im getting ahead of myself. Two months before his birthday, I visited CEC Headquarters and was surprised by some of the new things they are doing including incredibly yummy pizza. During the tour, I kept thinking to myself how much my boys would love it.

One of the best things about planning our party was being able to book it online. I hate making phone calls, and we were doing it at one of the Chuck E Cheese locations thats not nearby, so going in wasnt an option. The new system lets you select your package, how many people, your additional food or add-ons, and an available time/date all online.
Its seriously so simple just go to ChuckECheese.com to book up to 90 days in advance but seriously who knows when theyre having their party that far in advance?
You can make changes to lower the number in your reservation up to 24 hors before your party so book the max number you invited then give them the final number a day or two before.
If youd rather have the party space all to yourself, choose the VIP option when youre booking your party, and you can get in before the restaurants normal open hours! Thats HUGE right now with social distancing being so important.
Whats The Schedule Like
We arrived at Chuck E Cheese about 15 minutes before the party was set to start. Everything was set up in the back already and our host greeted us. She handed over a bag of play passes as well as a birthday bracelet for my sweet birthday girl.
Our host then went over our order . From there, she went over the schedule, which looked like this:
12pm party starts, kids play
12:45pm pizza time! Our host served the children and made sure they all got what they needed.
After pizza, Chuck E himself came out to dance with the kids. We then sang Happy Birthday while the host cut and distributed the cake. Since we got the Mega Super Star package, it also included Dippin Dots
From there, it wouldve been gift time, but we nixed that to do gifts at home.
After cake, it was ticket blaster time! My daughter wasnt too keen on it, so her big brother stepped in.

Dad Killed As He Carried Daughters Birthday Cake To Texas Chuck E Cheese
A doting father of two was fatally shot Friday in a Texas parking lot confrontation, holding a birthday cake meant to celebrate his 6-year-old daughter who was waiting for him at a nearby Chuck E. Cheese, heartbroken relatives said.
Calogero Duenes was fatally wounded following a verbal exchange caught on surveillance video with a driver who fled, authorities said.
Duenes, 24, then stumbled into the restaurant in Humble, Texas, where he collapsed, his sister in-law Rosemarie Uresti said Wednesday.
“I feel so sorry for my nieces,” Uresti, 18, said. “They have to grow up without a father now. He was a good father. He did everything for them.”
Uresti was unable to attend what was supposed to be a family party Friday night, she said.
Amber Uresti, Duenes wife and mother of the couples children, told NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston that she can’t fathom what would cause someone to react with senseless gun violence when Duenes was practically defenseless.
