Give the pan a couple of taps on a counter to release any air pockets before placing on the middle rack of your preheated oven. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45-50 minutes or until an inserted toothpick to the middle of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the bundt cake cool for 10-15 minutes before trying to remove it from the pan onto a cooling rack. Make sure the cake is completely cool before attempting to put the icing on it.

Bundt cakes are believed to have originated from Germany and are similar to the Gugelhupf cakes from Europe which are made from a yeasted dough and baked in a decorative, tube-shaped pan. These cakes are typically taller and skinnier than a typical bundt cake.

The word bund in German means tied or bind so one theory is that a bund cake is so named because it was served at social gatherings or for people that you were emotionally or socially tied to.

When German immigrants came to America, they couldnt bring their Gugelhupf pans with them because they were made of cast iron or thick ceramic, and therefore too heavy to travel with. Today, bundt cake pans as we know them are a little lighter, shorter and rounder than traditional Gugelhupf pans.

In the 1940s, H. David Dalquist who co-founded the company Nordic Ware, created an aluminum version of the traditional Gugelhupf pan. A t was added to the name bund for trademark reasons and thus the first bundt cake pan was born. And it flopped. No one was interested in buying them.

What Can You Do If The Bundt Cake Is Stuck To The Pan

Okay, its time to get started making our Nothing Bundt Cakes copycat recipe. There are two sections of this recipe: the bundt cake and the frosting. Well start with the cake ingredients. Because were using a prepared cake mix, this process is very simple. Simply add the ingredients to the bowl of a stand mixer: the devils food cake mix, chocolate instant pudding, sour cream, mayonnaise, eggs, water, and canola. Well leave the chocolate chips out for now and add them in later.

Mix the cake using the paddle attachment of a stand mixer. If you dont have a stand mixer, you can mix the cake with a spoon or use a hand mixer. Youre looking to fully incorporate the flour without overmixing. Its okay if there are some lumps, but you dont want to see any dry bits of flour.
