Specifically, I dreamed of Dairy Queen’s iconic ice cream cake. Even if you’re not a diehard fan, you still know its distinguishing qualities. Thick layers of creamy chocolate and vanilla ice cream divided by rich fudge sauce and irresistible chocolate cookie crunchies. It’s all coated in a luscious whipped topping for the perfect ratio of textures and pops of flavor.
Though it’s much easier to buy a pre-made ice cream cake, we all know homemade just tastes so much sweeter. Plus, you can make it just how you like with your favorite ice cream flavors, toppings, and more. That said, once you make homemade hot fudge and those oh-so delicious cookie crunchies, you’ll see the virtue of this recipe. It all comes together very quick with most of the time spent hands-off chilling the cake.

How Are Dairy Queen Cakes Made
To make a DQ cake, they start with a pan, and then add some soft serve straight from the machine.
Then, the two halves of the cake are fused together, to form one solid piece of cake. If the layers of cake are not perfectly even, the top layer is carefully cut off, making sure that the two layers of cake are perfectly fused together. The bottom layer of the cake is the layer of cake that will be used for filling.
After that, the rest is filled with either more frozen yogurt or a freshly made Blizzard. Then once its all smoothed out, the bottomless cake pan is removed.
First, a raised shaping tool is used to give the sides even strips. Then an icing border is piped along the top and bottom.

The Dairy Queen Cakes Flavors And Textures Were Incredible
This ice-cream cake had so much going on in the best way.
It had a layer of classic vanilla soft serve, a layer of fudge and crunchy chocolate crumbs, and a layer of Oreo Blizzard. A whipped topping and a drizzle of chocolate finished it off.
It was super flavorful. And the flavor combination was beautifully nostalgic.
There wasnt any actual cake included in this option, but I think it was better for it. The playfulness of the flavors and textures was so good.

As a kid, I rarely had the same birthday cake twice. I like all kinds of cake too much to stick with one. Regular cake, cheesecake, ice cream cakes you name it.
