In 1997, friends Dena Tripp and Debra Shwetz set out to create a luscious, melt-in-your-mouth bundt cake. What began as an endeavor in their own home kitchens soon blossomed into a bustling business with bakeries in 21 states. Rich cocoa browns and soft pastels lend a nostalgic feel to each bakery, where every day ovens warm up cake batter made from fresh eggs, real butter, and cream cheese. Flavors such as chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, and white-chocolate raspberry are favorite staples, and a new seasonal flavor makes a guest appearance each month. Cakes come in several sizes, from the standard 8- or 10-inch bundt to the single-serving bundtlet and the bite-size bundtini, all crowned with signature cream cheese frosting.

Co-owners Jill Tullemans of Eden Prairie and Patty Balster of Lakeville are excited to bring the first Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery franchise to Minnesota, at 8435 Joiner Way in Eden Prairie.
That is in no small part because Minnesota is the home of the Nordic Ware Bundt cake pan, used in the 72 stores nationwide.
Were nostalgia with a wink, Balster said of serving up the classic cakes.
Balster first heard of the artfully presented treats when her sister received one.
She had been working as an orthodontic dental assistant and Tullemans was in the insurance business.
Although the first response from Tullemans to the idea was, I dont bake, they were both looking for something new and decided they had found it in the Las Vegas-based franchise.
Tullemans said she is more inclined toward the paperwork and finances, while Balsters passions include food and working with people.
Today they have both received training in all of the jobs in the store, which employs about 20.
The original founders of the franchise are also friends, Dena Tripp and Debra Shwetz.
Tullemans and Balster were surprised to receive a call from Tripp and Shwetz on their opening day.
Balster said she choked up when she heard who was calling.
They said, Welcome to the family, Balster said.
The reaction has been amazing, the co-owners said.
People lined up on the first day, Tullemans said.
