Simpsons Giant Donut Cake
This slice of cake photographed above is an ode to Homers forbidden donut.
In the episode The Devil and Homer Simpson , Homer sells his soul to the devil for a doughnut. According to the contract, once Homer finishes eating the donut, his soul will be transferred over.
To keep his soul, Homer doesnt finish the donut. He saves the last bite in the fridge with a ton of warning notes. However, Homer eventually sleepwalks into the kitchen one night and devours that last piece. Youll have to watch the episode to find out what happens to Homers soul 🙂
My favorite cake donuts are lightly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. This cake has a little more cinnamon than nutmeg. If youre not a fan, simply stick to vanilla.
How to assemble donut cake:
I added a thin layer of boysenberry jam along with standard American vanilla buttercream. I used 4 drops of ivory gel paste food coloring mixed with 1 drop of chocolate brown gel paste food coloring to get that lightly golden tan color for the buttercream frosting that coats the outside of the cake.
I used the hot spatula technique from The Cake Blog to smooth out the exterior of the cake. And finally, I used a regular old powdered sugar glaze dyed with a couple drops of electric pink gel paste food coloring to make the iconic pink glaze.

What Is A Doughnut Cone
A doughnut cone is a dessert pastry that is baked or barbecued on a rotating cone-shaped spit, then covered with cinnamon & sugar. In other words, a donut cone is a cone-shaped sugar-covered baked donut. Sometimes they are coated on the inside with a chocolate spread like Nutella to add flavor while preventing the ice cream from leaking. These upgraded ice cream cones are sometimes called chimney cones or chimney cakes, the traditional predecessor of these baked cones.

Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our review.
Its probably the Krispy Kreme doughnut glaze that makes this special. The cake mix is most likely just standard Betty Crocker mix. I guess what Im trying to say is that Krispy Kreme should just sell their doughnut glaze in squeezable bottles.

Choosing A Doughnut Cake For Your Wedding
Are doughnut cakes only appropriate for certain types of weddings? Absolutely not. According to Wong, doughnut cakes or doughnut towers are perfect for weddings of all sizes and themes, from casual to elegant events. While you might not automatically picture a doughnut cake at a black-tie wedding, it can certainly be dressed up to fit into your day, whatever that may look like.
Doughnut cakes can be decorated with coordinating florals, a monogram on top, or by enhancing the overall display by utilizing a beautiful cake stand. Plus, the doughnuts themselves can be glazed in a pretty palette or topped with decorations to match your weddings aesthetic.
To be sure you have plenty of doughnuts for your guests to enjoy, plus enough to create the actual statement look, Wong suggests treating doughnuts similar to ordering cake. If you have a plated dessert at the end of your meal, I would suggest ordering doughnuts for approximately 50 to 60 percent of your guest count, she says. If the doughnuts are being used as your main dessert, you’ll definitely want to order at least one per guest.

What Is A Chimney Cake
An actual chimney cake is a traditional cylindrical pastry that originated in Eastern Europe made of dough and cooked on a rotating spit. They are known as trdelník in Czech/Slovak, kürtskalács in Hungarian, or chimneys in the UK. Because donut cones and chimney cakes are made in the same manner with the same main ingredients, they taste and feel the same. Both are slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only real difference between donut cones and a chimney cakes is that the chimney cake is not tapered on one end like a cone. Instead, it is the same diameter throughoutlike a chimney.
