The First 100 Customers At The Grand Opening Will Get Free Bundt Cakes For A Year
Cakes dressed in a sweet cream cheese frosting will soon spark joy for Gainesville residents Nothing Bundt Cakes is expanding its reach in north-central Florida.
Amber and Derrick Robinson, the owners of the new Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise, will open a store in Butler Esplanade, located at 3228 SW 35th Blvd., in February 2022.
Every time I hear someone talk about how much they love the cakes, I get energized and I get even more excited, Amber said.
The idea to apply for a store sprouted from their love for entrepreneurship, Amber said. From 2015 to 2021, the couple owned Florida Fun Bikes, a local nighttime store that rented out party bikes to Gainesville residents.
But after having two kids, the couple decided to sell the franchise and prioritize their children. They still wanted to own a franchise but wanted more family-friendly hours. Nothing Bundt Cakes offered them flexibility.
It just became more of a burden, Amber said. We never wanted to let our customers down.
The news was no surprise for Ambers relatives.
During her years at Arizona State University, Amber said she received a Nothing Bundt Cake pastry as a gift and immediately fell in love with the store. She gave Derrick a red velvet bundt cake for his birthday. And it was the best hed ever had.
Prior to the good news of a new location, Gainesville residents had to drive more than 50 miles away to the closest Nothing Bundt Cakes store in Jacksonville.

At Winter Park’s newest bakery, the goods come in just one shape, that unique circular design known as the Bundt.
Nothing Bundt Cakes opened its first Central Florida location last week, specializing in ring-like cakes that swept the culinary world during the1960s.
It could be a risky proposition in the world of the high-concept cupcake trendand full-service bakeries at nearly every neighborhood grocery store.
But sisters-in-law Joni and Lisa Jones, who run the Winter Park store at 415 N. Orlando Ave., are confident they will succeed.
“If you sell one thing, you have to sell it well,” said manager Joni Jones.
Nothing Bundt Cakes has grown rapidly since 2006, when it had just one location in Las Vegas. The company now has 92 bakeries nationwide.
Park Maitland School teacher Megan Pearsall discovered Nothing Bundt Cakes when the bakery dropped off a few dozen snack-sized “Bundtinis” for teachers at the school Tuesday. Pearsall had two during her breaks.
“My in-laws are visiting, so I had to come by and get one to take home,” she saidat the store this week. “It’s really good.”
The Joneses say the company’s trademark Bundt cakes offer a vivid culinary contrast from other types of cake. The cakes and frosting are made daily, on site at the Winter Park location.
“It’s a dense cake, much different than a regular store-bought cake,” said Lisa Jones. “A 10-inch cake will serve 18 people. And these things do get heavy.”
