When Buddys mother celebrates her 40th birthday with a cake, she surprises him. The birthday cake is designed to resemble a washing machine. To make the cake look real, Buddy enlists the help of two assistants. They must make each cake precisely how the client wants it to look.
In this season, Buddy and his team face challenges every day. First, they must create a replica of an alligator, a 14-foot animal. Afterward, they must make a cake for the Bronx Zoos 110th anniversary. Buddy must also overcome construction problems.
Meanwhile, Buddy makes a cake for his mothers birthday in another episode. He reveals that his father had also dreamed of having a bakery, so he is aiming for that. The cake is supposed to be as life-sized as possible, so there is no time to mess up! In addition to the challenges ahead, Buddy and his team are busy with his mothers illness.
In the second season, the team is assigned several more challenging projects.
