How Many Cake Mixes For A Full Sheet Pan

What is the number of cakes mixes for an 11*15 pan? If you plan on filling an 11*15 inch pan, you will need two cake mixes. Due to this, the cake will be an inch thicker when mixed with two cake mixes. If you want to increase the baking time, make sure to do so at least a few minutes before baking.

Ways To Use Your Sheet Pan

Now that you know which sheet pan to choose, it’s time to put it to work. Here are some of our favorite ways to use this cookware.

If youre already using a sheet tray for anything other than making cookies, youre probably using it to roast vegetables, right? For extra-crisp roasted vegetables, put the sheet tray in the oven while it preheats so its nice and hot. This is especially good for potatoes, but you can really roast anything on a sheet tray. The fact that the sides are only an inch high means that more direct heat can circulate around what youre roasting, yielding crispier surfaces all around. So much better than roasting in a deeper roasting pan.

Line a sheet tray with a clean dish towel and spread freshly washed herbs, greens, veggies, or berries out to dry.

You want air to circulate all the way around foods that will release liquid while they roast , so the food gets crispy instead of cooking in its own juices. The solution? Fit a wire rack into your sheet tray and proceed with roasting. This is great for baking breaded cutlets or for finishing a pan-seared a pork chop in the oven. This is also the best way to cook crispy bacon for a crowd.

You dont need a pizza stone to make great pizza at home, just heat an overturned sheet tray in your oven as hot as it will go and spread the dough on top for thin crust pizza, or bake it inside for a thicker grandma-style pie.

The Best Sheet Cake Pans

February 13, 2018 by Rose Atwater

I’ve owned a dozen different brands of sheet cake pans. In every size and brand you can imagine. And after seven years in the cake decorating business, I’ve come to know which ones I love and consider the best sheet cake pans.

With all the pans I’ve bought, they’ve varied from super cheap pans from the dollar store to really expensive, heavy duty pans.

I own at least one of every popular brand of pans on the market – and I have an opinion on them. I won’t go into all of that today, but I’m hoping my trial and error with pans will help you buy the best ones the first time around.

The ones I love are not the most expensive , but they’re the best quality I’ve found and they’re a great value.

Now I know when people talk sheet cake pans, they may not all be talking about the same thing so I’m going to cover a couple of different kinds. Let’s get started…

How Many Cake Mixes Fit In A 1218 Pan

What To Know About Sheet Pans

  • Material matters. Whether you’re using baking sheet pans for cookies, dinner or bread, choosing the right material for your project is imperative. Nonstick may perform better on delicate sugar cookies, while you want an aluminum option for roasting veggies at a high temperature.
  • Have an option for the broiler. Nonstick and coated pans may not all be safe to use under a broiler. Opt for an aluminum option for anything you need to finish under the broiler, like chicken Parmesan.
  • Textured pans can help with crispiness. You can find sheet pans with textured surfaces that are designed to help with air flow and amp up the crispiness on food. Use these for foods like Brussels sprouts that are better with a crispy exterior.

Traditional Sheet Cake Pans

Anyway, for traditional “sheet cakes”, I love Parrish Magic Line Pans. Actually, this is my favorite brand for all traditional cake pans ! They’re quality pans that bake evenly and beautifully. Magic Line pans also hold up for the long haul and do not warp even after thousands of runs through my oven.

Best of all, Magic Line pans also have super sharp corners for sheet and square cakes and I love that feature! With our recent move, I’ve had to split cake work between the new house and the old one. I didn’t have all of my sheet pans in one place to take pics for this post, so I only have the one size pictured.

But I actually have these three sizes:

A couple of times I’ve needed an odd size in between those and I’ll just slide two together… and have a 13×18 or 20×15. That’s what I did for this huge bank order a few years ago…

I baked 4 12×18 sheet cakes, then I stacked them 2 layers deep and pushed them together for a huge 24×18 cake that was over 4″ tall. That cake was a beast.

Is A 1218 A Full Sheet Cake

You can serve 108 portions of the wedding cake if it is 4 tall. Baking professionals use a 12 X18 sheet pan, which is cut into two 2-inch by 12-inch squares and serves 54 people. Baking a full sheet cake requires a sheet pan, which is literally used by professional bakeries. In this case, full sheet, half sheet, etc. are used.

How We Tested The Sheet Pans

Nordic Ware 46325 Disney Frozen II 9x13 Baking Pan with ...

You need a baking sheet that can do it alland the good ones can! Within the catch-all sheet pan category, we only tested rimmed half-sheet trays. Whereas rimless cookie sheets are good for maximizing space if youre baking an army of gingerbread men, trays with rims are all in all more versatile: They prevent spillage and drippage on everything from roasted fish to granola. As for size, full-sheet pans are generally too large for noncommercial kitchens. Half-sheet pans are exactly half the size and what we use in the Test Kitchen . To test the pans, we prepared three different foods at varying temperatures.

We baked them on parchment-lined sheets and examined them for over-browningfirst after 10 minutes of baking and then after an additional 8 minutes.

We baked the dough on oiled sheets, pulling the focaccia out when it was deeply golden brown on top. We checked how easily the focaccia slid out of the pan and flipped the cooled bread to look for evenly colored bottoms.

We roasted the vegetables on unlined sheets for 20 to 25 minutesuntil the edges were charred and the florets were crisping.

What’s The Difference Between A Sheet Pan And Cookie Sheet

While both sheets can be used for baking, there are a few notable differences. Many standard sheet pans come with rimmed sides that make them better for baking breads like focaccia or tossing sides like crispy Brussels sprouts. Cookie sheets are designed with a tapered edge allowing baked goods to slide off of them and onto a cooling rack. The tapered edge also allows for more air circulation around the cookies, which could make for a more even, faster bake. You’ll also find many cookie sheets are made with an insulated design, meaning there is some space between the two pieces of metal, which keeps the cookie bottoms from overbrowning. Those differences aside, both baking sheets and cookie sheets are great tools to use for cookie baking.

We updated this guide in February 2021, adding two additional favorites. We still love many picks from our original test. Read on for our list of current favorites.

Can You Put 2 Cake Mixes In 913 Pan

Sheet pans that are 9 inches by 13 inches are the most appropriate size for two boxes of cake mix. The cake will be slightly thinner than it would be with the full amount of batter, and will likely take 8 to 10 minutes less time to prepare. Two boxes of mix make slightly less batter, at 8 to 9 cups, so the cake will be slightly thinner.

Nordic Ware Commercial Sheet Pans

Okay… aside from traditional cake pans, these Nordic pans are also called sheet pans. These are not usually used for tiered or layer cakes – but rather for things like jelly roll cakes or petit fours. The most popular thing I’ve used them for on the blog is petit fours – and that is a super popular recipe for me. Here is part of my collection:

I also use these pans to bake cookies, bars, bread, biscuits, roasting veggies, broiling bacon, and a million other things. They are seriously good for so many things!! I have 20+ of them and I still can’t ever have enough!

Oooh, you can also get lids for them which is thebomb.com. I love to store unfrosted cupcakes on them with a lid to keep them fresh until I’m ready to decorate.

The Nordic Ware sheet pans are diffrent from the Magic Line pans in that they don’t have straight up and down sides or sharp corners and they’re only about 1 inch deep vs. 2-3 inches. Nordic Ware Sheet pans also come in quarter sheet, half sheet, and full sheet sizes, but I’m going to give you the dimensions in inches.

Because I’m a rebel like that

Below are the four sizes of Nordic Ware Sheet Pans I have:

Although I don’t use them for anything related to cake decorating, I had to share the fourth size and tell you a little story behind them.

Months and months ago Richy took me out to eat on a date. We tried a new restuarant and they served our appetizer on these itty-bitty sheet pans.
