MENTOR, Ohio Janette Looney, co-owner of four Nothing Bundt Cakes in Northeast Ohio, had never tasted a Bundt cake until she was in her 30s. Thats when she wandered into a Nothing Bundt Cake bakery in Las Vegas. She fell in love with the rich, moist cake and signature cream cheese frosting.

The shop, she says, was a happy, dreamy place. It became my dream to open one.

So, she introduced the cakes to her then-boyfriend Dennis Looney. After dating a few months, she brought Bundt cake to my house and said, Im not leaving until you try it, he recalls. He rolled his eyes and resisted because he and a friend were busy watching sports. One taste led to another, and the two men soon ate an entire cake.

Bundt cakes are baked in a distinctive fluted pan with an open center. Theyre inspired by a traditional European cake and were popular in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. Their vintage charm is making them fashionable again. And the Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise is running with their popularity.

The new store follows customer demand. We had many guests who drove to our South Euclid bakery and asked for us to open closer to them, says Dennis.

Bundtinis, Bundlets and Bundt cakes are available in nine regular, one gluten-free and one specialty flavor.

The company started in Vegas and has now grown to more than 430 locations across the U.S. and Canada.

The well known establishment is all about bringing joy to their customers. Each cake is hand-crafted and comes in many tasty flavors and sizes. The bakery specializes in birthdays, holidays, events and many more special occasions. If you have ever stopped by a location you know the lingo of ordering a dozen of bundtinis, a triple bundlet tower, and/or a whole bundt cake.

The list of flavors include:

A new bundt cake bakery is taking the place of a Subway in Alexandria.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is opening its first Alexandria location.

The bakery will open at 4553 Duke St., replacing a Subway sandwich shop in the Shoppes at Foxchase in Alexandrias West End.

Nothing Bundt Cakes has locations at Seven Corners, at the Springfield Mall and in Vienna.

The bakery chain started in Las Vegas in 1997 and has grown nationwide. The Foxchase location is the first franchise in Alexandria.
